Expectations

“The truth is, there is no expectation. There is only what you get. There is only reality. Expectations are false realities.” - Jay Shetty

Who Are You Doing It For?

By now, you either really have a lot of energy and are making headway on your goals or you’re running out of steam. Our passion to succeed can accelerate like fire if we start with the right intentions and true reality of the results, but our passion can dwindle if we didn’t start with the right intentions and count the cost. For example, you start a new business and your expectations of success are high, based on opinions received from others, friends, and peers. However, you hit a ‘Rut’ in the road. The people you expected to support you are not, and the business is barely moving forward not making a profit. You’re tired. Your high energy is gone and you want to quit.. throw in the towel.

Questions

What was the true intention of starting the business? To be seen by your peers? Have a certain outcome? Or to fulfill a need? Solve an Issue that you may or may not benefit from? The desire to be seen as a business person or leader by your peers is not a good enough reason to overcome ‘the ruts’ in the road to success. Not a deep enough ‘Why’. The ruts of stress at home, stress at work, naysayers, not showing a profit, etc can still steal your dream, your goal. As I mentioned before, your "Why" and "Passion" must be strong enough to overcome and move forward past the ruts.

This week test your intentions.

Who are you doing it for? Yourself or someone else? Your answer to that question will help you answer these next questions. Are you going to fold with the first sight of defeat? Fear? Lack of results? Disappointment? Or are you going to soar over the "Rut", the "Set Back", the "No", the "Attack" to achieve your goal and win? If the earlier answer was someone else, what’s in it for you to keep going and soar?

Elijah was a mighty prophet for God. He slayed over 800 men during a battle, but he ran out of steam, hit a ‘rut’ in the road. A woman named Jezabel said she would kill him. Her words/attack made him run away and want to die. While asking God to let him die, his words focused on himself, not the victory and what it would bring to him and others.

God told him to rest, recharge, focus on the purpose and complete his mission.

I say the same, Rest, Recharge, Refocus, and Commit to staying committed past the "ruts" in the road til the end.
