It takes approximately seven impressions for consumers to remember your brand.

Referred to as the Rule of Seven, this guideline means that you most often need seven points of contact with your audience before they can recall you. This can serve as a wake-up call to those that tend to take a laissez-faire approach to brand awareness, hoping that a post here and there on social media will deliver growth.

So what is required of your marketing strategy to get to the magic number faster and more frequently? Try implementing some of these approaches:

Create More Content

Content helps you build a relationship with your audience and is key for getting your message out. Here are efficient ways for you to get more content in front of consumers:

  • Repurpose a popular blog topic into an infographic.
  • When you create a video script, divide it into sections so that you can clip segments for posting on Instagram or Facebook.
  • Turn your how-to blog post into a video version and promote both in separate emails.

Each time you repurpose your most effective content, you’re creating more touchpoints with your audience with topics that have resonated well in the past.

Throw a Wider Net

Expand the number of channels you’re using to distribute your content. If you’re using a mix of social media and email marketing, consider some cross-promotion through a mailer or by hosting a podcast. If you are a B2B company, don’t be afraid to tap into Facebook or Instagram while you continue posting on LinkedIn. The most critical information for your strategy is knowing where your audience spends time. Each of the social media platforms has their own demographics for who is spending time there, as well as some quirks for how your posts should look and feel.

Be Consistent

If you start publishing a weekly blog, and then you take a month off, don’t be surprised if this impacts your audience. The same rule applies to social media and email marketing. If a person is interested in your brand, but they see that there has been a drop in activity or that you are inconsistent, that reveals something about your commitment to providing valuable information. This is an area where social media scheduling technology or even an automated marketing platform can be valuable.

Consistency is also critical in how you are presenting your brand. According to Forbes, the consistent presentation of your brand across all platforms can drive up your revenue by 23%.

Utilize Push Notifications

You can invite your audience to receive push notifications that alert them when you’ve posted new content, whether that’s a new blog on your site or a piece of content you’re sharing on social media.

Push notifications are an effective way to build a relationship with your audience, and that relationship paves the way for customer loyalty, which is what you’re really aiming to achieve. Fundera reports that when customers are loyal to a brand, they spend 43% more with them.
